    • Edison Elementary Principal Nancy Withycombe is concerned about the increased traffic on Alder and would like to remind motorists to obey the 20-mile-an-hour speed limit
    • In today’s paper read about 37-year-old  Adam Piercy who recently suffered a heart attack and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He does not have health coverage so a special fund has been set up at Baker Boyer Bank
    • Six drug-related charges were filed against Camren Jones who worked as a correctional officer at the Washington State Penitentiary
    • Wa-Hi senior Caroline Treganowan has helped set up Cat’s Closet, a student-driven store that aims to provide formal attire to students who can’t afford to buy fancy clothes for next weeks homecoming
    • Don Davis takes us to the a bass-fishing tournament held at Columbia Point Marina in Richland

    • 9/11 is commemorated in Walla Walla with two event: firefighters will be posted at the memorial statue on Main between Third and Fourth all day until midnight, and an event taking place at Pioneer Park from 3 to 11 p.m.
    • Local public school committee held the first of three public meetings to discuss the proposed boundary change
    • Jeffrey Bruton was arrested and charged with raping a 16-year-old girl on tow occasions this year
    • “Paper Works” is a new exhibit at Carnegie Arte Center featuring the work of five regional artists
    • Rick Eskil reviews “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”
    • The Garfield County Fair takes place this weekend

    • Milton-Freewater School Board awarded a $103,000 contract to a construction firm to demolish the old Freewater Elementary School by the end of the year
    • The Community Council is holding three public sessions later this month to acquaint the public with the Council and it’s study project, which will focus on various needs of area children
    • Baker Boyer Bank has announced a special dividend to its stock holders of 10 cents per share in addition to its regular quarterly dividend of 69 cents
    • The Marcus Whitman Gem and Mineral Society is sponsoring a rock and gem show taking place at the Community Center at the Walla Walla Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday
    • Don Davis and Nora the Schnauzer took a fishing trip to the Klickitat River on the Columbia River Gorge

    • City officials will start reminding local business what kinds of displays are acceptable on the downtown sidewalks
    • The Calzaretta family has completed its cross-country bicycle trip as they reached the Atlantic Ocean. They head back home later this week
    • Summer Daze held at Garrison Middle School was a success and organizers hope to do it again next summer
    • Penitentiary employees rounded up  school supplies and delivered them to the Walla Walla School District office
    • Octavio Meza entered guilty pleas and was sentenced to 300 days for robbing and assaulting Manuel Ponce in February
    • Supporters lined Main Street  Monday to cheer 35 members of the National Guard as their bus passed through downtown on their way to deployment to Iraq
