    • The project using Penitentiary inmates to help index old area newspapers is being extended thanks to the Sherwood Trust extending it’s funding for another three years
    • Demencio Venecia entered guilty pleas to three home break-ins in June and is suspected of committing about a dozen more
    • Richard Travis Berglund, who escaped from a jail work crew assignment at the county fairgrounds a year ago, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge last week
    • Alfred Laggner, a health-care provider accused of causing two patients to have sexual contact with him, is scheduled to go to trial starting Jan. 20
    • Read Sheila Hagar’s column where writes about a weekend she spent in Seattle where she spent nearly all her money at a fancy makeup store

    • Also in Panorama, read a feature on Lois Gaddy who will be the elevator attendant at the new restored Walla Walla Fairgrounds Pavilion

    • City officials will start reminding local business what kinds of displays are acceptable on the downtown sidewalks
    • The Calzaretta family has completed its cross-country bicycle trip as they reached the Atlantic Ocean. They head back home later this week
    • Summer Daze held at Garrison Middle School was a success and organizers hope to do it again next summer
    • Penitentiary employees rounded upĀ  school supplies and delivered them to the Walla Walla School District office
    • Octavio Meza entered guilty pleas and was sentenced to 300 days for robbing and assaulting Manuel Ponce in February
    • Supporters lined Main StreetĀ  Monday to cheer 35 members of the National Guard as their bus passed through downtown on their way to deployment to Iraq
